Our guide meet you in your
hotel, visit the Songzanlin Lama Temple. After lunch,
drive to Nixi Pottery Village and visit a Tibetan Family
to see how to make pottery. Then tour to the Shangri La
old town - Jiantang and the Guishan Park. Have dinner
in a Tibetan family with butter oil tea and Tibetan food.
Lama Temple: Also named Guihua Monastery, the temple
is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Shangri-La
of Yunnan province. It is one of the famous monasteries
in the region, nicknamed as "the little Potala Palace",
for the whole monastery is in the traditional style with
Nixi Pottery Village:
a small Tibetan village with amazing natural beauty which
lies along the popular adventure route from Deqing to
Zhongdian, the village is famous for making traditionsl
black pottery, the raw material clay, is taken from a
mountain three kilometres away.
Tour to the Bita Lake and Shudu Lake which are located
in the Pudacuo National Park. Then visit Naphai Lake.
Optional horse riding around Napahai Lake is available,
cost on your own. Transfer to your hotel in Shangri-la.
Lake: The lake is a well-known freshwater lake at
an elevation of 3540 meters in western Yunnan, and is
41 meters at its deepest point. Horses are also available
if you prefer riding to walking. "Bita" in Tibetan also
refers to a place where lots of oak trees are growing.
In the centre of the lake, a small wooded island is made
the shelter for many rare species of birds. If you are
lucky enough to be in the non-windy day, the rosy clouds,
the snow-capped mountains and the nearby forests are all
mirrored in the lake.
Lake: The lake is located 43km to the northeast of
Shangri-La City. Shudu Lake is 3705 meters above sea level
and is one of the biggest lakes in Diqing Prefecture.
Now it has been turned into a highland pasture resort.
The lake is shallow enough to be called interestingly
"a place where one can fish with a wooden stick". The
lake water is so clear that you can see the fish swimming
around. One special fish in the lake is called the cracked-stomach
fish for the crack line strangely running across its stomach.
Covering an area of 660 square kilometers, the lake is surrounded by mountains on three sides. Napahai has the largest grassland in Shangri-La, every september, the lake turns into a temporary habitat for migratory birds, such as bar-headed geese, wild ducks and black-necked cranes (one of the 12 rarest bird species in the world). Napahai Lake is both an ideal grazing field for herdsmen and a paradise for many species of birds.
