| Day 01
|
Arrival in Kunming
Upon your arrival, our guide will pick
you up at the airport and transfer to
your hotel. Visit the Bamboo Monastery.
Bamboo
Monastery: A Tang Dynasty (618-907
A.D.) temple known for its Arhat statues,
is the most famous of Kunming's temples.
The present Bamboo temple was rebuilt
in the Guangxu Era (1833 to 1890).

| Day 02
|
Kunming - Stone Forest
- Kunming
After breakfast, drive 90 KM to Lunan
county to visit the Stone Forest. Back
to Kunming in the afternoon. Visit the
Golden Temple. (B+L)
Stone
Forest: The most remarkable natural
phenomena. It consists of innumerable
bizarre shaped ancient limestone cliffs
and peaks created by wind and water
erosion some 270 million years ago.
Golden
Temple: A Daoist temple, the main
building of which is cast entirely
in bronze weighing about 280 tons.

| Day 03 |
Kunming - Dali
Take morning flight to Dali. Have a
cruise in the Erhai Lake, on the boat,
you'll enjoy the unique Three-course-tea
of local ethnic Bai people and their
dancing and singing performance.
In the afternoon, visit Bai people's
Tie Dying Cloth with Wax, villages of
Bai People with traditional architecture
courtyard in Xizhou Township, the Three
Pagodas in the Chong Sheng Temple and
Dali Ancient City. (B+L)
Erhai
Lake: One of the seven biggest
fresh water lakes in China and the
largest highland lake next to Dianchi
Lake (in Kunming). So it was called
"Plateau Pearl". The dimension
is 41.5 km. by 6.9 km. The total storage
capacity is 3 billion cubic metres
and its elevation 1,972 metres.
Bai
people: The Bai people have a
long history and well-developed culture.
80% of the population of 1.39 million
live in the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture
around the Erhai Lake with exquisite
scenery. The Bai people have their
own spoden language but do not have
a written one.
Three
Pagodas: Between Cangshan Mountain
and Erhai Lake, the Three Pagodas
stand like the legs of a huge tripod.
In the time of Nanzhao and Dali Kingdoms,
Chongshengsi Monastery was the largest
monastery in this area and the Three
Pagodas were only a part of it.
Dali
Ancient City: A historically and
culturally famous city of China, is
renowned for her historical interest,
and an important pass of the ancient
"Silk Route of the South".

| Day 04
|
Dali - Lijiang
Drive 3.5 hours to Lijiang. Visit the
Black Dragon Pool in Yuquan Park and
Lijiang Ancient Town. (B+L)
Black
Dragon Pool: As the water is as
green and lucid as jade, the pond
is also entitled "Yuquan"
or Jade Fountain. On the bank of the
pond willows hang their withes like
silk thread. One can see arbours and
pavilions beside the pond, temples
hidden in the trees and variegated
flowers found everywhere.
Lijiang
Ancient Town: The county town
of Lijiang is also called Dayanzhen,
famous for its scientific architectural
layout. Crisscrossed by crystal-clear
rivers and meandering cobbled streets,
it has a high research value and is
a treasure in the field of urban construction
in China.

| Day 05
|
Lijiang
Visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain,
the Baisha Murals, the 600 year old
Ten Thousand Blossom Camellia Tree at
the Yufeng Lama Temple and villages
of Naxi people. (B+L)
Jade
Dragon Snow Mountain: The much
famed mountain is situated some 15
km. north of Lijiang County, with
thirteen peaks resembling jade pillars
holding the sky, it stands majestically
on the east side of the Jinshajiang
River. The main peak, Mount Fan (Shanzifeng),
is 5,596 m. above sea level, and is
annually snowcapped.
Baisha Murals: Lijiang's murals
are works of the Ming Dynasty, chiefly
created from the Hongwu to the Wanli
eras. They were originally distributed
among the Juexiansi Temple and twelve
others, nine of which fell to ruins.
The remaining four temples have altogether
55 murals, with a total area of 139.22
sq. m.
Ten
Thousand Blossom Camellia Tree:
The tree is as old as over 500 years.
Around the day when spring begins,
the flowers also begin to vie in beauty
and around the day when summer begins,
they fade away.
Naxi
people: Naxi literature is rich
in form and content. Besides works
by Naxi scholars and writers, there
is a repository of oral folk literature.

| Day 06 |
Lijiang - Shangri-La
Drive 180Km to Shangri-la. On the
way, visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge and
the First bend of the Yangtze River.

Tiger
Leaping Gorge: One of the longest,
deepest and narrowest gorges in the
world.
First bend of the Yangtze River:
The upper reaches of the Yangtze River
is named the Jinsha River, which originates
from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The
Jinsha River flowed southward along
the Hengduan Mountain ranges and was
forced to the turn to north because
of the Alpine movements which caused
changes in the earth's physiognomy.
When the river reaches Shigu Township,
it makes an abrupt turn and flows further
northward, forming the rare V-shape
bend. |

| Day 07 |
Shangri-la
Visit the Bitahai Lake, the Songzanlin
Lama Temple, the Napahai Reserve and
a Tibetan family. (B+L)
Bitahai
Lake: A fault lake, is an intact
natural attraction with various species
of flora and fauna and, of course,
picturesque landscapes.
Napahai
Reserve: Napahai Nature Reserve
is both an ideal grazing field for
herdsmen and a paradise for many species
of birds. This is, in the true sense,
a seasonal lake.
Songzanlin
Lama Temple: A typical Lama monastery.
Located at the foot of Mt. Foping,
four kilometers north of Zhongdian
County, a monastery was first built
here in 1679 and has been rebuilt
many times.

Shangri-la - Deqen
Drive from Shangri-la to Deqen, 110km,
visit the Flying temple on the way.

| Day 09 |
Deqen
Visit the Mingyong Glacier at Meili
Snow Mountain. (B+L+D)
Meili
Snow Mountain: Towering like
a pyramid is located about 10km west
of Deqing City in Diqing Prefecture.
As the sun rises in the east, the snow-mountain
looks splendid, draped in gold. Low
altitude modern glaciers, can be found
in this area, of particular interest
to those engaged in geological research.
Under Kawageber Peak, Mingyuchia Glacier
and Sichia Glacier stretch down to the
forest at an elevation of 2,700 meters;
this area is accessible. However, the
highest peak, Kawageber Peak some 6,740
meters above sea level, is still a "virgin
peak", untouched till now. Mountaineers
from China, Great Britain, the US, and
Japan have failed to conquer the peak
over the years. In 1991, 17 mountaineers
from China and Japan trying to conquer
the peak lost their lives on the snow-mountain.

Deqen - Shangri-La
- Kunming
Drive from Deqen to Zhongdian. Free
time. Take evening flight to Kunming.

Departure from Kunming
Tour to the Dragon Gate in Western Hills,
then visit the Grand-view Park and Bird
& Flower market. Transfer to the
airport for your departure, end of service.

Hills: Located at the west bank
of the Dianchi
Lake, is set in mountains well covered
by evergreen woods and filled with sweet
songs by lovely birds, perfect for hiking.
Dragon Gate consists of the Sanqing
Temple Complex and the Dragon Gate Grotto
Complex.
Grand-view
Park: A beautiful lake-side park
that was completed in 1690 during the
Qing Dynasty, known for its longest
antithetical couplet in China. |
