Zhilin Monastery
The
monastery, situated inside the western gate of the county
town, was built around the first year of the Zhiyuan
era of the Yuan Dynasty. Rows of pillars and myriads
of "dougongs" (brackets inserted between the
top of columns and crossbeams) give the buildings of
the monasteiy a magnificent and impressive appearance.
It is one of the few remaining ancient large scale architectural
masterpieces of intricate wooden structure found in
Yunnan.
